Andre Kikoski Opens “Willy’s Garage” Modernism Week 2016

New Andre Kikoski by Wilsonart® Laminate surfaces debut at event

New York, NY (Feb 9, 2016) – Award-winning architect Andre Kikoski, AIA, has partnered with Wilsonart, a leading manufacturer of decorative engineered surfaces for 60 years, to create Andre Kikoski by Wilsonart, a new collection of laminate surfaces. The Collection previews at Modernism Week 2016 where Kikoski’s new colorful line will be featured in “Willy’s Garage,” a whimsical takeover of this year’s official Modernism Week show home garage.

‘Willy’s Garage’ will feature an array of patterns and textures from the Collection as well as signature pieces by Carl Hansen & Son, Austere, USM, and Flos Lighting. The space provides a bohemian man cave where “modernistas” can come together. The 3,500 sq. ft. home, developed by Thomboy Properties, is an interactive, tongue-in-cheek exploration of modernist design and how it relates to design today.

The new Collection takes inspiration from the organic qualities of natural materials. Andre Kikoski by Wilsonart includes a wide range of patterns, including canvasses of polar and birch bark that bring the outside in, while others use digital technology to replicate recycled glass. Acid-etched and brush-hammered metals create unexpected texture and depth in the laminates. The Collection also features some of Kikoski’s favorite architectural finishes, including chiseled stone, luxurious linens, crystals, rippled glass, hand-troweled plaster and distinctive geometric patterns. By manipulating scale, texture, contrast, inversion and color, the Collection creates dramatic new interpretations of timeless architectural finishes through digital innovation.

Andre Kikoski by Wilsonart will be available online later this year as part of the “Collaborations” category of the Wilsonart® Virtual Design Library (www.wilsonart.com/VDL), an evolving, curated collection of laminates available in just 2-3 weeks from order.

Kikoski will also be headlining a presentation entitled “East Coast vs. West Coast Modernism” with architect Michael Lehrer, FAIA on Saturday, Feb. 13 during Modernism Week at CAMP. The presentation will be moderated by Interiors magazine editor-in-chief Erika Heet.
